Hello TCSD staff,
As a district we have transitioned the process of reporting COVID related absences to better reflect the fact that COVID is here to stay. For more information on COVID return to work protocol, please reference the information below.
If you are having COVID symptoms, it is recommended that you self-isolate and test as soon as possible to determine infection status. Free at home COVID tests are available at the Annex Office for Staff, Students, and their Families.
Report absence to your supervisor and complete documentation in Frontline.
You are able to report back to work if you meet the following criteria:
Symptoms are not present, or are mild and resolving; AND
No fever for at least 24 hours, without the use of fever-reducing medicine.
If test results are positive, continue to self-isolate and follow the steps below.
If you test positive for COVID-19, complete the TCSD Employee COVID Survey located HERE.
Forward the email copy of the survey to your supervisor, and complete documentation in Frontline.
Isolation can end and staff member may return to the workplace after they meet the following criteria:
Stay home if you have COVID-19 symptoms, until you have not had a fever for 24 hours without using fever reducing medication AND other COVID-19 symptoms are mild and improving.
If you do not have symptoms, you should follow the recommendations below to reduce exposure to others.
Mask when you are around other people indoors for the 10 days* after you become sick or test positive (if no symptoms). You may remove your mask sooner than 10 days if you have two sequential negative tests at least one day apart. Day 0 is symptom onset date or positive test date.
Avoid contact with people at higher-risk for severe COVID-19 for 10 days*. Higher-risk individuals include the elderly, those who live in congregate care facilities, those who have immunocompromising conditions, and that put them at higher risk for serious illness.
Seek Treatment. If you have symptoms, particularly if you are at higher risk for severe COVID-19, speak with a healthcare provider as soon as you test positive. You may be eligible for antiviral medicines or other treatments for COVID-19. COVID-19 antiviral medicines work best if taken as soon as possible, and within 5-7 days from when symptoms start.
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Taft City School District has followed state and local public health guidance in addition to all state regulations and laws related to the pandemic and will continue to do so. As the COVID-19 state of emergency has come to an end in California, we will no longer maintain separate stand-alone COVID-19 plans. Moving forward, the District will follow the state-level plans. Those plans can be viewed at the locations linked below:
